Zika Care Connect includes the following types of healthcare professionals:

  • Maternal fetal medicine specialist – A doctor who cares for women with complicated or high-risk pregnancies.
  • Pediatric neurologist* – A doctor who cares for children with health problems affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles.
  • Pediatric ophthalmologist* – A doctor who cares for children with eye problems, including problems with visual development.
  • Developmental pediatrician – A doctor who specializes in the physical, emotional, behavioral, and social development of children.
  • Infectious disease specialist* – A doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, control, and treatment of infections.
  • Endocrinologist* – A doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, control, and treatment of diseases related to the endocrine glands and hormones.
  • Radiologist* – A doctor who specializes in conducting and interpreting imaging tests, such as ultrasounds or magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs).
  • Audiologist* – A healthcare professional who specializes in assessing hearing determining types of hearing loss.
  • Mental health services – A healthcare professional who provides psychological counseling or therapy to help people deal with a variety of mental health problems.
  • Care coordination – A professional who helps coordinate care among the different healthcare professionals needed to treat a medical condition.

*This includes providers who care for infants, whether or not their scope of practice is only focused on children.
